A Guide To Mosaic Floors

If you are among the people who are afraid to use mosaics in your home, this article will help you to see the beauty you are missing. Mosaic tiles add colour and texture to your home decor. They create an environment that enhances relaxation and vibrancy if used correctly.

Mosaic can be made of any material. They come in sheets comprising many tiles where these individual tiles are available in any shape. They can be square or rectangular or unevenly shaped to make joins invisible. These sheets can be trimmed, cut down to size or into strips and the bonding is usually done by an adhesive.

You can try to use mosaic tiles in the shower. The tiles add a natural feeling, like you are under a waterfall surrounded by many stones. For the shower, use natural colours accordingly.

You can also use them in the bathroom to give you a jungle environment.

Exotic plants evoke the feeling of being in the midst of nature and also make you feel like the sun is shining right on you.

Some flowers and chances enhance the bathroom and make it feel like it’s a private spa. Choose soothing colours when creating these bathroom designs.
The kitchen too can benefit with an addition of mosaic tiles. They can serve as a backsplash for the kitchen sink and you can make them look artful or you can make them stand out.

Depending on the choice in the colour and size of the tiles, you can make a room look different and add to the natural beauty of your home. Mosaic tiles do not look commercial as other tiles and they are therefore more comforting to use. You can give your home an antique look by choosing darker colours or you can brighten it by choosing bold colours.

Article by Rev Michael Bresciani

Shortly after the attack of the World Trade Towers on September 11, 2001 President George Bush said that whoever was responsible for the attack had awakened a sleeping giant. Between the liberal left and a citizenry busy with a million distractions and a Old Roman Empire like preoccupation with opulence, indulgence, concupiscence and vulgarity…did America hit the snooze button and go back to sleep?

One of America’s largest Christian broadcasters, Trinity Broadcasting Network has decided to drop one of its shows because it does not want to agitate Muslim Jihadist. Of course they say it is because they don’t want to offend Muslims in general and that because they are beginning to broadcast into Arab countries. Nevertheless the dye is cast and with a brand of political correctness of their own making they plan to bounce the long running show created by the late Zola Levitt. The last show is set to air on August 28, 2006. Zola Levitt’s ministry will be carried on by his son Mark on the internet according to the ministry’s newsletter.

Prior to dumping Levitt TBN also planned to dump Hal Lindsey’s program, “The International Intelligence Briefing.” After some in house wrangling the program was to remain on air but then Lindsey himself pulled the plug because he could not express the true nature of Islamic radicalism without the pressure of an ongoing scrutiny.

These are just two examples of the absurdity of the notion of “political correctness.” Until political correctness becomes part of the constitution it would seem that we are still covered by the first amendment when it comes to calling a spade a spade…or are we?

Of the hundreds of articles I’ve written only a few have ever been declined. Some were said to be placed in the wrong category and a few because I submitted them twice (unwittingly) to the same database. Only one was ever rejected because it was thought to be “politically incorrect.” I must admit I was shocked but after musing over it for a while I realized that to those who espouse this fantasmical notion I was making waves but I also know I was making inroads in a very important way. I was satisfied with that and I have been glad ever since that there are others out there like Lindsey and Levitt who are also.

Who decides what the parameters are in this business of being politically correct. If Hillary and an army of liberals take the presidency and most of the congressional seats in 2008 will that define my politics until the next election. Must I then become a progressive, anti war, tree hugging, happy little democratic puppy for at least the next four years? The answer is of course understood. I cringe at the ideas and positions of the left in this country but I am completely satisfied that because this is America, they are always within their rights to hold and voice their views in any way they see fit. I am told by the constitution itself that I cannot hinder the free expression of their views. I only wish someone would tell them that they can’t hinder mine either. Until the idea of “political correctness” becomes part of the constitution it should be denied and actively resisted not to mention labeled for exactly what it is, “censorship by assent.”

The real victim of political correctness is the “truth.” Common sense is often accosted as well. Can Americans only bark about our own political goofery but must stop short of speaking about something abroad or connected to “Religion?” Maybe we should posthumously apologize to Jim Jones for the negative remarks that were made after he lead over nine hundred people to their deaths in Guyana. After all it happened in a foreign country and it was a religious thing.

Jesus Christ spoke of loving one another as being the most important of all his commands to his followers. He gave them examples of that kind of love daily by healing the sick, saving the lost and raising the dead. Yet for all that showing of love he never bent to the will of the constabulary. He saw the hypocrisy of the religious leaders. He saw the ever burgeoning traditional encumberments that they laid on the average citizen. He didn’t hold back one bit when he addressed them just because they were Jewish like him. He did not let the fact that they were revered leaders of the much touted Levitical priesthood make him cringe in fear. In fact he spoke against them in such a way that by today’s standards of “political correctness” he would be barred, banned, censured and who knows maybe even tarred and feathered.

Here are some of the things he said to the Pharisees in his day. Keep in mind that the Pharisees were not the leaders of some new movement out of nowhere. They were the keepers of the Mosaic laws and traditions. They were also the ones who laid a construct or web of rules, liturgies, interpretations, traditions and opinions over the pure simple word of the prophets and patriarchs until that word was so buried by the construct that it was all but lost. They hated Christ’s speaking of simple things like love, kindness, life and using analogies with birds, flowers and children. They after all had all the right religious words and phrases and were sure this country bumpkin of a Jew was talking into his hat. Politically correct? Look at this rebuke.

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance: And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. And now also the ax is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Matthew 3: 7-10

But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves. Matthew 23: 13-15

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. Matthew 23: 23-24

By the standards of political correctness Jesus might have been resurrected not to save the world from sin and give a promise that death has been conquered but rather to make an apology to the religious leaders that he so furiously lambasted, and in public.

No one should have to apologize for telling the truth. If discretion and respect are employed and we conduct ourselves with any kind of dignity as we address those we speak to, the truth should be all that is needed. When we wash our words with fear, hope of gain, or deference to people in position or power we hold ourselves responsible for those words. If as gentlemen we speak the truth in a respectful and deliberate manner then those words are responsible for themselves.

On Location May 08 Morocco

Article by Nick Laing

Just three and a half hours from the UK is Morocco, where in just two weeks, I visited desert, mountains, a beautiful ancient city, coast and two of the most vibrant cities in North Africa. Oh and ate lots of delicious food!!

I started my journey in Casablanca, in the north of the country, an area that has a distinct feel of Southern Spain (or maybe it’s the other way round!) dotted with white villages and olive groves. Rabat, Morocco’s current capital has a lovely, albeit less gritty feel to it than other Moroccan cities, and Meknes, with its fertile land and agricultural produce are both well worth spending some time exploring. The ancient Roman city of Volubilis was one of my highlights – the Romans really did know how to pick a beautiful site to build a city. Amidst rolling green countryside with far reaching views, I visited this site at dusk and the beautiful light on the colonnaded streets topped by the resident stalks nest and the amazingly preserved mosaic floors was enchanting.

Fes is less visited that Marrakech but no less wonderful with a medina that loses you on arrival amidst its 9400 streets. The donkeys here have specially made rubber shoes helping them to grip the winding and sloping streets – cries of ‘Balek’ can be heard throughout the medina, as a warning to get out of the way of an approaching donkey carrying its load! The main industries in Fes are handicrafts including skilfully painted ceramics – baked in kilns, heated by burning olive stones. Also famous for its tanneries where some of the most beautiful leather is dyed…the natural dyes are rumoured to include pigeon excrement & cows urine amongst other ingredients!

The north and south of the country are separated by the Atlas Mountains and as I left the whitewashed city of Fes and headed south the scenery changed from mountains and cedar forests to dusty pink Berber villages and desert.

I spent one night in a private desert camp at Erg Chebbi sand dunes, located just forty minutes east of Erfoud. The orange sand dunes seem to rise out of the barren landscape from nowhere and the silence at night, broken only by the sound of Berber drumming, mixed with the amazing star-filled sky, is magical. This said – the dunes here are a well trodden route and even in low season I did share the sunrise with about 15 other people, making the whole experience that little less special. If a unique desert experience is what you are seeking, for me Morocco is not the place to do this.

For a first time visit to Morocco I would without doubt say that the combination of the Atlas mountains, Essaouira and Marrakech is a really great one.The Atlas Mountains, home to North Africa’s highest peak, offer stunning scenery with wonderful trekking opportunities. Dramatic snow capped peaks hide tiny Berber villages and crystal clear rivers where local women wash their brightly coloured laundry and graze their cattle.

The bohemian, laid back feel of Essaouira with its crumbling ramparts, thriving art community and windswept beach combines perfectly with the madness and sensory overload of Marrakech where after a day spent bartering and dodging donkeys and scooters in the souq you can always escape to the peace and solitude of one of the many beautiful riads dotted throughout the medina. A perfect combination

There are many over-the-counter preparations in the treatment of the wart. It is important to note that warts on the face and genital area should be treated by a doctor.

How can Salicylic acid help in removing warts?

Salicylic acid is often used to treat form of drops or patches, warts on the hands, feet and knees. Salicylic acid dissolves the protein that makes much of the warts and the layer of dead skin cells on top.

The affected area is clean and applies the acid every day upto12 week, takes effect. It should be used after a bath, as this treatment works best on wet skin. Shine Treatment with medication may be used. However, salicylic acid should be avoided in patients with diabetes.

Imiquimod is a topical cream to treat genital warts, but is also effective in treating some common warts. It activates the immune system to fight HPV.

Bleomycin can also be used, but these contributions are very painful and can damage the skin and destroy the warts. This medication may cause problems with blood circulation. This line of treatment chosen, if other measures fail before the operation.

Vaccines and Injections

In recent years, doctors have been injecting Candida (vaginal yeast infections in women produce) antigens on the website of warts. This tricks the immune system to attack the wart and the injection of Candida.Antigen injections of mumps are also effective.

Gardasil is a vaccine designed to prevent anogenital warts.Prevents infection with certain strains of HPV.

Warts usually disappear within one or two years without treatment. But sometimes occur after treatment. Extreme Wart Treatments such as laser or surgical removal should be attempted only if the failure of other methods.

Entry from: Fes, Morocco Entry Title: “The city of Fes” Entry: “Fes is considered the spiritual capital of Morocco with its almost 1million inhabitants. Fes officially has the largest medina (market) and leather tannery in the Arabic world — with 10000 streets. Fes is also known to have the oldest university in the world — dating back to around 700 AD and created by a woman (a woman who ultimately could not attend the university, as it was only reserved for men back then). Waking up on a dank and rainy day, we should have had an idea how the day would turn out. We went to see how the mosaics and traditional Moroccan (Fes only) pottery is made, fired and painted (I just had to buy a few knick knacks here). The medina itself has 365 mosques. It is massive — and we visited only a very small section with our guide that we hired for the day (Hakima — who spent 2 months in the medina to learn to navigate her way around in order to guide visitors). One of the more interesting sights was the 13 hour water clock called the Dar al-Magana that stopped working some time ago — and to this day, no one can get it to work again (they are attempting to reconstruct the clock). It is a weight-powered water clock, which was finished in 1357. The clock consists of 13 windows and platforms carrying brass bowls. The

Overview Of Types Of Tiles

Article by Annie Deakin

Tiles have become very popular in the past few years with many home builders and designers. They have found it is easy to care for, is available in unlimited shapes, colors and designs, and adds value to a home. Tile is durable and most is especially suited to areas of heavy traffic. It does not stain, sag, or tear and provides years of comfort and beauty. In addition, it has a natural look and, if properly selected, will blend with any other colors in the location where it is installed. Tiles can be incorporated into any design palette. Grout, used to hold the tiles together, also comes in many colors and can be used as a continuation of the tile color or can be used as a contrast. One is only limited by their imagination in choosing the layout and the desired end product.

Tile comes in several materials. Marble, granite and slate are cut from natural stone. These materials are very porous, stain easily and can break if not handled properly. Of the types of tiles that are manufactured, these natural stones are the most expensive. In response to consumers desire for products that looked like natural stone, manufacturers create tiles that are mixed with other elements to create the same type of stone look that is non-porous and more durable. Many people select one of these types of tiles when looking for a natural stone tile.

Tile selection can be confusing because of the many types of tile available. When selecting tile it is helpful to have a basic knowledge of the tiles used most often and where they most effective when installed.

Ceramic tile is a mixture of clays and other materials that are fired at high temperatures. To make this tile, several different types of clay are reduced to a fine powder, pressed and dried. Glazing ceramic tile involves covering one side of the tile with a substance called, which is made from glass. This is then fired at a very high temperature which melts the glass and creates the high-gloss cover over the tile. This system makes one side of the tile a hard finish that resists any type of water or hard wear. Ceramic tiles are extremely durable and recommended by most professionals for flooring and walls.

Porcelain tile is also a mixture of clays and other materials but the primary material used in its manufacture is finely ground sand. After being pressed at extremely high temperature it becomes fine, grained and smooth and looks much like glass. It is stronger and more durable than ceramic tile. While at one time porcelain tile color extended through the entire body of the tile being manufactured, today it is used as a surface color. Special tools are required to cut porcelain tile because of its tendency to chip.

Agglomerate tile is made by combining polyester resin or epoxy with marble or granite chips. Its strength makes it desirable in many projects having high traffic. This tile affordable and most popular in kitchens, counter tops, walls, bathrooms, and fireplaces. When tiles are installed using Agglomerate the area must be sealed to protect it.

Quarry tile is made by combining natural clays (shale) which makes the color red. Other colors are available in Quarry tile as well. These colors are made by included different dyes to change the color of the clay. The tiles are used primarily for flooring. It is both water and weather resistant which makes it ideal in climates that have severe weather changes.

Terrazzo tile is similar to Agglomerate tile in the way it is made. This tile is one of the durable tiles on the market. It is suitable for any use after it is sealed. It wears well in heavy traffic areas and is resistant to water and stains.

Mexican Tile or Terracotta is handmade tile which varies in texture, color and appearance. It comes in various styles, colors and sizes and usually requires some type of sealing. This tile is usually used in courtyards or patios where a rustic charm is preferred. The tile gives off a cool temperature in heat and is very popular in regions where the temperatures are extremely high.

Mosaics are very small tiles made from porcelain, ceramic, glass or natural stone. They are ideal for placing between other tile to obtain an outstanding design. In some cases mosaic bricks are used to create a unique back-splash in a kitchen.

Paving tiles

There was a time when the asphalt confidently entered the lives of not only urban but also rural residents, edging out second place cobbled streets and squares. Ribbons of roads, large parks and modest little park, paths and alleys were made of asphalt. Over the years, under stress and environmental factors are faded, cracked, eroded and after repairs took on the dark patches. People are accustomed to impersonal road differing from one another only in the number of holes, cracks and patches of fresh asphalt. Yet irresistibly attracted to you those rare places that still meets a bizarre mosaic of stone where you want to slow down and be absorbed, albeit briefly, in an atmosphere of past centuries in the history of the city, the amazing power of natural beauty. Feet to cross the small stone on stone, unique pattern of carefully selected old masters rocks attracts the eye, and it seems that even a merciless time stood still and gone before the joint creation of man and nature. Such bridge there, perhaps, in all the old cities. They remember the feet of thousands of horses hooves, the wheels of carriages and the Phaeton. On these roads passed the first cars, and now to him confidently modern life.

Appeared flagstones and eliminated the need to select stones of various sizes to create a road surface. Articles made of artificial materials have a definite shape and standard dimensions, so their installation does not take much time. In addition, Pavement strong and durable and beautiful. Different colors and the possibility of combining several shades allow you to create coatings with a completely unique pattern. And although the paving stone is still relevant, artificial tratuarnaya jets, simulating a variety of natural materials, is becoming increasingly popular. It is used almost everywhere: for paving the sidewalks, grounds in front of shops and cafes, gas stations, parks – for creating tracks and, of course, without it can not do in the regeneration of the territory of country cottages, guest houses and holiday homes. Cobbles pleases the eye, creates a special mood and gives the area a neat finished appearance.

Sidewalk tiles in two ways: vibropressing and vibrocasting. The first involves the use of harsh mixes with low water content, the second used plastic compositions, and embedded in vibroformy. Both methods allow to obtain excellent results, and the choice of method of production or that kind of tiles depends on the shape of the finished product, the solution composition and preferences of the manufacturer. To date vibrocasting became more widespread in the Russian factories for the production of paving slabs. With it, get the tiles of different sizes and shapes. Along with a smooth surface produced products that simulate brick, paving stones, boards, and even wood sawn. And the use in the production of color pigments to satisfy the most demanding consumers.

Of what is concrete used for the production of paving slabs? Like everyone else, it includes cement, aggregates, water and additives. But given the high demands for strength and durability of finished products, manufacturers use only the special materials. High-quality Portland cement M500 finished coating allows for a long time to withstand the daily load. As the filler used sand and gravel, and only certain factions and high compressive strength. To improve moisture resistance and resistance to temperature changes in the composition of the concrete mix is introduced plasticizers, air-entraining and hydrophobic additives, and the finest fibers of polypropylene, polyamide, or glass tiles make more endurance, longevity. Forming a three-dimensional lattice, synthetic fibers, thereby improving traction concrete components, and thus prevent the destruction of products made of it.

And, of course, since we’re talking about color tile in the production process can not do without color pigments. That they can get a simulation of various breeds of natural stone and even wood. By coating pigments for sidewalk special requirements: In addition to the stability of dyes in an alkaline environment of hardening concrete, they must withstand weathering and sunlight.

But the availability of quality components do not guarantee quality finished products. Only in strict compliance with the proportions and production technology can be obtained sidewalk coverage as all the requirements of regulatory documents.

Determine the quality of road paving tiles or without special instruments and equipment is almost impossible. However, if you know what it is worth paying attention to when choosing a product of this kind, can insulate itself from some errors.

First, remember that good tiles can not be cheap. One pigment for its production costs up to $ 10 per kilogram and per square meter of tiles used about 0.5 kg. Other components of the concrete mix, too, costs money, and modern equipment requires a certain cost. Too low prices suggest that the most likely products are made without compliance with technical requirements, and perhaps the materials were not of the best.

Smooth surface paving slabs not necessarily indicate its quality. If the gloss was obtained by the introduction of the concrete mixture of special additives, it can only rejoice. But practically the same external effect can be achieved by increasing the amount of water, and this impacts negatively on the strength of products. Check the quality of tiles or paving stones can be in mild shock products of each other: the ringing sound indicates that they were made by all the rules and meet the standard, a blank – indicates that the water is clearly overdone.

Special attention should be paid to the brightness of colors tratuarnoy tiles or paving stones. She can be reached either using expensive pigments, and this necessarily affects the price, or an overdose of conventional dye – in this case along with the price decreases and strength.

In addition there are external signs of specifications that products must meet. When buying a sidewalk coverage is necessary to ask the certificate and the results of laboratory tests. Any major manufacturer of such documents has and presents them on demand. With unknown companies offering tile for unreasonably low price case it is better not to have: most likely, the product looks decent and does not last for five years.

Paving tiles (pavers) has several advantages over the asphalt. First and foremost is the high environmental impact. In contrast to the asphalt coating of the tiles are not softened in the heat and do not emit volatile petroleum products. The gaps between the tiles prevent the accumulation of moisture and the formation of puddles, being a natural drainage systems. Artificial stone not prevent water and gas exchange of greenery, so parks, gardens and courtyards will entertain their visitors with fresh grass, flowering shrubs and trees healthy.

The second tangible benefits – durability. Stone, even if man-made, durable material and very durable. When the asphalt is covered with cracks from temperature changes and mechanical influences, Pavement does not lose its strength and attractiveness. But even if somewhere in the load on it is too high, correct the damage does not pose a big problem.

In contrast to the asphalt coating of tiles tratuarnoy parsed as easy as going. This allows you to effortlessly replace any of its elements, repair, which is under the ground water or cable, and then quickly restore the tile in place of its dismantling.

Elements of the covering of artificial stone can be compared only with similar products made from natural, but even before them, they have obvious advantages: lower prices, wide selection of colors, can deliver almost any amount of product desired shade.

Regardless of what kind of sidewalk coverage chosen to design parks, alleys, urban or suburban gardens, public transport or playgrounds, all of these places become strong defense and effective attractive appearance. By curly colored tile or imitating ancient cobbled pavements to walk much nicer than the faceless gray asphalt. High performance, environmental friendliness and beauty have made prefabricated pavement cover some of the most popular in urban areas and cottage communities. Neat paths and squares with a unique pattern confidently enter into our everyday lives, are hallmark prestigious areas and places of public resort. Along with the tile and pavers manufacturers offer borders, corner units, ramps for paving at differences of heights and even drains. And if laying paving slabs or pavers is done correctly, then the coating will last for many years without repair and replacement of its individual components.
