REXBURG – Teton Lakes Golf Course held a ribbon cutting and a tournament for their new 9 holes. It’s been a project in the making in Rexburg for several years. Nearly 200 people that showed up Friday morning to play in the 5 man scramble. Golf enthusiasts are excited about the new greens, and it isn’t going to cost taxpayers a dime. Golfers love a new challenge. “New 9 is great. Been a fun day, had a great time. Nice and open, easy to hit the ball,” said golfer Jared Rydalch. That’s easy for Jared to say as he hits this putt. “It was a lot of work. There were times we were on, we were off, we were on. No it’s not going to work, yes it’s going to work. It finally came together. The golf course? We’re self sufficient, we’re totally paid for by the (fees) the golfers are paying,” said Duffy McFarland with Teton Lakes Golf Course. I’m no golfer, but I can tell you after a week of investigative reporting, even I enjoy clearing the cobwebs out on the green. “Just hanging out in the sunshine, and enjoying the nice weather,” said Rydalch. The golf course funded this expansion over several years, and utilized some cost saving measures. Golf course designer Kevin Atkinson couldn’t be more proud. “Dollar for dollar, I think it’s the best golf course that I can think of in the United States in the last few years to open up. We mined our own sand and gravel from the site. We harvested our own sod from the golf course. We used a little bit of prison labor to do some odds and ends
